After the data/signal cables (green and white) had been removed I soldered the four wires to each other. In lack of heat shrink I had to improvise. Scotch tape should to it.

To make a nice connection between the cable and the USB connector I used this little box.

I have had these orange LEDs for some time now and this was the first time I was going to try them. But these aren't any ordinary LEDs. These babies are VERY strong. 11140 mcd to be exact. "WOW!!" must be your reaction ;) Even if they are strong they are at a normal size, 5mm, and uses only 2 volt and 30mA! I bought them at ELFA, a Swedish electronics shop.
