USB BendLight
People on the market are quite smart. They use others ideas to make money. Many mods created by modders have often been used by manufactures. This mod is one of them. A USB BendLight is simply a LED on the end of a USB cable. What is it good for then? If you have a laptop this is a great little lamp that you just have to connect in a free USB port and the LED shines. The computer can't "feel" the BendLight 'cause it only takes power from the port. No signals are given to the computer. This means that there's no need for drivers or similar. Only connect it and you got a light source.
For this mod you have to have a USB connector. I got mine from a USB cable. I said that the mod is simply a LED on the end of a USB cable, and it's just that, but if you want it to look more professional you have to use another cable.

The idea of a USB BendLight is that it can be bent (hence the name) and hold its figure. A USB cable is very slack and isn't even close to being useful in this mod. To get a strong cable I took a 45cm long ordinary cable used for AC electricity. It's a cable with two wires, plus an extra wires for ground. Down here you can see that I have removed it by pulling it out... with force :) (This is a two-man job)

Why did he remove it? Couldn't he just use a 2-wired cable? No, I couldn't. The free space in the cable is going to be used by a strong metal wire. This will give the cable strength that it didn't have before. I use a metal wire that is covered by green plastic. I first tried spinning three wires together. It really didn't come out nice and it sure was too big for the cable. The second try with only two wires came out perfect.

The wires have been pulled into the cable and the pre-tests showed that it's quite strong. (When writing this article I now know that the strength could have been stronger. To use a solid wire is recommended.)

Guess what's happening here ;)

This is what you'll find inside the USB cable: shielding...
